Crews responded to the "multi-acre" fire near Mary Ann Forge Road in the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in Pemberton Township on Wednesday, Oct. 16, the state Forest Fire Service (NJFFS) said in a Facebook post.
No evacuations have been issued, no buildings were threatened, and no roads were closed by the wildfire.
The National Weather Service issued special weather statements for an elevated wildfire risk throughout New Jersey on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
"Breezy winds with occasional gusts near 20 mph, relative humidity values near 30-35 percent, and dry fuels will combine to make conditions more favorable for the spread of wildfires," the NWS said. "Any fires that develop may become challenging to contain."
Burlington County was among the Central and South Jersey areas under "stage two" fire restrictions.
"All fires in wooded areas will be prohibited unless in an elevated prepared fireplace, elevated charcoal grill, or stove using electricity or a liquid or gas fuel," NJFFS said in another Facebook post.
A 30-acre wildfire sparked in Medford on Friday, Oct. 11, and was contained by the next morning.
